Moving to another country is more than just a practical change. You leave a familiar environment behind, start over, and discover that much of what seemed obvious is suddenly different. A different language, a different culture, new people, and sometimes a completely different role within your family or relationship.
That can be beautiful and enriching. But it can also be confronting.
Maybe you recognize this:
You take care of the people around you a lot, but forget yourself.
You miss family, friends, or the familiar people around you.
You are trying to find your place in a new culture.
You have doubts about work, relationships, or the next step.
You notice that old patterns are becoming more prominent.
You want to rediscover what you actually need.
You long to stand firm in yourself again.
For women, I often see the same pattern: you keep giving to your partner, children, family, and environment, while your own needs fade further into the background.
As an expat, that can be extra complicated. You are far from what is familiar, and at the same time, expectations and influences from home can still be strongly present.
I know how that feels. My own life has also taught me how easily you can lose yourself in what others expect of you.
It was only when I gained more distance from my familiar environment as an expat that space was created to reflect on myself. To feel what was truly living inside me. To recognize old patterns and step by step let go of what no longer suited me. I rediscovered who I was.
I am allowed to be here.
I am allowed to make my own choices.
I am allowed to be strong.
And I am allowed to receive love.
That personal journey has shaped my way of coaching. My coaching helps you reconnect with yourself. Not by telling you who you should be, but by exploring together what is already present within you. So that you can go your own way with more peace, confidence, and resilience.
Expat in the Netherlands
A new country, a new chapter
A new country can open up a world of possibilities. At the same time, it can demand quite a lot from you. You have to deal with:
a different language;
cultural differences;
building a new social network;
a new work environment or looking for suitable work;
different expectations within relationships and families;
missing family and friends;
finding your place again.
Maybe you feel like everyone around you is moving forward, while you are still figuring out where you belong. Or maybe your life looks fine on the outside, but inside you feel that you have lost yourself somewhere.
That is not strange. Moving to another country doesn’t just change your environment. It can also make visible what you were previously able to push away more easily. At a distance from the familiar, space sometimes arises to meet yourself again.
Together we explore what you need to feel at home again. Not just in the Netherlands, but especially within yourself.
From the Netherlands into the world
Ready for a new country, but also for a new version of yourself?
Are you emigrating from the Netherlands? Then a lot will change. Practically, all sorts of things need to be arranged. But the personal change is sometimes underestimated.
You leave people, habits, places, and a familiar environment behind. At the same time, you take yourself with you. And old patterns don’t just disappear at the border.
Maybe you wonder:
Who will I be in my new environment? How do I stay myself when everything changes? How do I deal with expectations from family and friends in the Netherlands? What does this change mean for my relationship, my family, and my own identity?
Emigration can be a moment to consciously reflect on these questions. Not because you have to have everything solved before you can leave, but because you can use this new phase to choose more consciously how you want to live.
Together we prepare you not only practically, but especially personally for your new chapter.
